Android Popular Among High School Tech Students

This past Friday I had the opportunity to speak to 2 high school A+/Net+  classes which provided the opportunity to learn what tech is popular with today’s youth.  In a quick question and answer I inquired about their mobile phone of choice and was surprised by the following results.

  • Most of them had at least 1 phone which was Android and some of them had multiple phones.
  • What was surprising is that all of them had rooted their Android phones.  The reason for rooting was ability to customize their phone plus it allowed for some to network (hacking) tools.
  • The versions of phones were at least 1-2 years old and very few of them were high end phones.

One of the other interesting findings was that none of them had heard of Chrome OS which I found surprising since all of them were Android smartphone users.
