Most data points in this study can be resolved for BYOD tablets by offering virtualized applications and desktops to the appropriate staff. However, tackling those same applications on a mobile phone becomes the challenge as they don’t scale well. Also, for certain organizations being able to determine if there is a need to invest in developing/provisioning mobile apps for their main systems becomes a point of contention. BYOD solutions for mobile phones in a lot of cases are competing with other projects that have a bigger ROI for companies. Although this study indicates that phones and tablets are the primary devices, the use of personal ultrabooks will rise over the next few years.
