After reading MG’s article on the crossroads that is the MacBook lineup from Apple, I decided to compare prices based upon my company’s standard MacBook Config over the past year.  Based upon our standard the new MacBook Pro Retina Display actually comes in cheaper with the following config:

• 2.7GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.7GHz
• 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM – 2x4GB
• 512GB Storage

MacBook Pro = $3,349.00

MacBook Pro w/Retina =$3,049.00

The cost differentiator appears to be the Flash vs Solid State storage.  For our power users the Air has not been an option because of the limiting storage.
